John Baird warns of Iranian charm offensive in speech to UN, invokes failed appeasement of Nazi Germany

OTTAWA — Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird is telling the United Nations General Assembly not to be taken in by any Iranian charm offensives.
Baird restated that warning in his speech to the assembly today, evoking the memory of the failed appeasement of Nazi Germany in the year before the Second World War.

Bolton: Iranian President Playing Obama to Buy Time to Build Bomb

Iran's new president, Hasan Rouhani, is telling President Barack Obama what he wants to hear while buying time to build a nuclear bomb, says John Bolton, former U.N. ambassador and current senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute.

"Just as Vladimir Putin had played him for a fool over Syria, Mr. Obama was initially snubbed by Iranian President Hasan Rouhani despite frantic White House efforts to produce a handshake," Bolton writes in a Sunday op-ed in The Wall Street Journal.

It's not the first time Rouhani has played the West, Bolton writes. Rouhani was Iran's chief nuclear negotiator from 2003 to 2005, when he successfully followed the same playbook

Five student representative bodies—at the Universities of Edinburgh, West Scotland, Leeds, Derby and Kingston—have banned Blurred Lines in all the premises in which they have dominion, including student bars and dancehalls, on the basis that it “undermines and degrades women” and “promotes an unhealthy attitude toward sex and consent”.

John and Tarek's Excellent S&M Adventure

Egyptian authorities have a "solid basis" to charge Canadian Muslim Brotherhood enablers John Greyson and Tarek Loubani, according to a report in today's Toronto Star.

Greyson and Loubani are hardcore anti-Israel activists who were delayed in Egypt en route to Gaza, which is controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood-linked terror group Hamas. Greyson's purpose evidently was to make a propaganda film featuring his friend Loubani.

Relations between Egypt and Gaza are extremely strained as the Hamas-controlled territory has been the source of terror attacks against Egyptians in  recent weeks. In response, Egypt has mostly sealed off Gaza and demolished most of the smuggling tunnels out of the territory that led to the Sinai desert.

The pair were arrested during a Muslim Brotherhood "Day of Rage" demonstration and Egyptian authorities allege the Canadian duo were in a Mosque that was a staging point for anti-government violence.

Along with Loubani, York University film professor Greyson, whose work is fixated on homoerotic themes, issued an emotive statement today which reads less like a record of fact than a melodramatic depiction of a sado-masochistic fantasy:
from John Greyson`s
"The Making of Monsters"

"That's when we were: arrested, searched, caged, questioned, interrogated, videotaped with a 'Syrian terrorist', slapped, beaten, ridiculed, hot-boxed, refused phone calls, stripped, shaved bald, accused of being foreign mercenaries. Was it our Canadian passports, or the footage of Tarek performing CPR, or our ice cream wrappers that set them off? They screamed 'Canadian' as they kicked and hit us. John had a precisely etched bootprint bruise on his back for a week."

The coup that removed Muslim Brotherhood President Morsi from Egypt had widespread support among the Egyptian population. After his democratic election, Morsi proceeded to subvert democracy by awarding himself dictatorial powers that exceeded those held by Hosni Mubarak.

It seems to have eluded the pair of anti-Israel fanatics that Egyptians might not be as enamored as they with a group who simply shared their goal of eliminating the Jewish state. Egyptians may despise Israel, but it poses no danger to them while also serving as a useful scapegoat. Whereas the Muslim Brotherhood represents an immediate threat to all Egyptians who don't want to live under the boot heel of Sharia Law.

Greyson and Loubani are currently on a fruit juice diet they are depicting as a "hunger strike," and mounting pressure from Canadian authorities may result in Egypt releasing them.

When that does happen, get ready for a sickeningly sanctimonious road show from a pair of self-declared martyrs that will make most forms of torture look mild by comparison.

Lying scumbag, "Muammar Qaddafi Human Rights Award Winner" Jean Ziegler elected to UN Human Rights Council Advisory Committee - he should fit right in

The list of winners of the Quadafi prize, that Ziegler co-founded as a way of giving good press to the murdering, raping, torturer who ruthlessly ruled Libya for decades, is like a who's-who of global sociopaths. It includes Communist dictators like Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez, as well as the degenerate racist, Louis Farrakhan.  And of Course Ziegler himself won the award, but lied about it for 11 years until the organization United Nations Watch exposed him.

Even so, today he was elected to the ironically-named United Nations Human Rights Advisory Council.

The UN is a dysfunctional club that needs a massive overhaul. Until then, it carries less moral authority than a pile of cow dung.

The veil drops at a meeting of Toronto`s "pro-Palestine" communists, Islamists and Jew-haters

The website Veterans Today and Iran's English-language propaganda service PRESS TV share many things in common. Among them are Holocaust-denial, a penchant for 9-11 conspiracy theories suggesting mental instability, hatred of both Jews and Israel, and a detestation of western civilization.
Eric Walberg

No credible person would allow him or herself to be closely associated with either, so it's no wonder that they both use the same correspondents, including Canada's own lunatic conspiracy theorist Joshua Blakeney, as well as the pro-Islamist creep Eric Walberg.

Toronto's Beit Zatoun, a meeting-place for Marxist, Islamist and anti-Israel cretins operating under the facade of "pro-Palestinian" activism is hosting Walberg tonight. The event is being promoted by the neo-Marxist website rabble.ca, which is published by the spouse of federal NDP Deputy Leader Libby Davies.

Walberg is a hateful 9-11 conspiracy nut who has declared: "Secular Judaism and Christianity either need to self-destruct and rebuild, or disillusioned people from those traditions can embrace Islam. (Norwegian mass-murderer) Breivik and his neocon friends know this deep down. But just as Communism was not an external threat neither is Islam. They both are only threats because they stood/ stand as a beacon of hope for the disillusioned. " and "we are all Jews now”, i.e., all worshippers of Mammon, promoters of the ego/ self."

Western leftist Israel haters often repeat the lie that it is "Zionism" they want to eliminate but not Jews.

But it doesn't require much looking to see the truth behind the lie they tell.

The Beit Zatoun event tonight will likely only draw the regular small, pathetic assembly of slime that usually frequent the place.

No decent person would go near Beit Zatoun without good reason. But it's important to know what sort of thing goes on there.

UPDATE: Local Khomeinist stooge Zafar Bangash will also be hosting the Jew-hating Walberg at his Islamo-fascist hate hub, the Islamic Society of York Region.

Tarantula Facts

As the world’s largest spiders, tarantulas are both feared and beloved. There are more than 800 species of these often hairy, nocturnal arachnids. Tarantulas live primarily in the tropical, subtropical, and desert areas of the world, with the majority found in South America.
In the United States, tarantulas are found in Southwestern states. Despite their fearsome appearance, tarantulas are not threatening to humans. Their venom is milder than a honeybee, and though painful, their bites are not harmful. In fact, tarantulas have become a popular pet for arachnophiles around the world.

3 Reasons All Kids Should be FORCED to Watch South Park!

One of the longest lived and most controversial TV shows of all time – South Park – is kicking off its 17th season.

Despite being a cartoon, South Park was the first weekly TV show to be given an MA rating, meaning it's intended for mature audiences. And it’s certainly packed with foul language, off-color humor, and adult situations.

But it’s also truly educational, especially for children. So here are three reasons why all parents should make their kids watch South Park.

Iran claims CNN fabricated Rouhani's Holocaust remarks

Iranian State News Agency FNA is claiming that CNN fabricated President Hassan Rouhani's remarks about the Holocaust made during an interview with Christiane Amanpour, which aired Tuesday evening.

"CNN aired its interview with Rouhani on Tuesday but the news channel added to or changed parts of his remarks when Christiane Amanpour asked him about the Holocaust," the agency claims in a post, giving their transcription of Rouahni's remarks.

The agency says CNN added a whole section to Rouhani's remarks, including comments about "criminality against Jews" and about Jews taking land because of what the Nazis did in the past.

CNN declined to comment on Wednesday afternoon.

Kelly McParland: Harper takes a pass on UN blowhard opportunity

Stephen Harper won’t address the UN General Assembly when it gathers in New York this week, just as he didn’t address it last year or the year before.

The Prime Minister will be in New York, but won’t make the trip to UN headquarters to join other government leaders at the podium. John Baird, the Foreign Affairs Minister, will get that honour, as he has for the past two years. Instead Harper will co-chair a session on health issues for women and children in developing countries, part of a Conservative initiative launched in 2010, and take part in a discussion on the economy at the Canadian-American Business Council.

New Democrats consider this an outrage. “It’s embarrassing that the Prime Minister — for the second year in a row — will be in New York during the opening ceremonies of the UN General Assembly, but apparently can’t be bothered to show up, stand up, and speak up on behalf of Canada,” intoned Paul Dewar, the NDP critic.

Mr. Dewar speaks before he thinks. Other than a few leaders — the U.S., China or Russia — General Assembly speeches draw little attention beyond the leader’s own delegation. But they’re very popular with international despots who enjoy the chance to harangue less repressive countries under the protection of the UN banner.

Barack Obama is our generation's Neville Chamberlain

JERUSALEM — With the United States and other nations extending an increasingly warm welcome to the new president of Iran at the United Nations this week in New York, Israel finds itself in a bind: eager to unmask what it sees as an empty charm offensive, yet at risk of being seen as a spoiler unwilling to consider the possibility of change in Tehran’s nuclear policy.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel expressed appreciation Tuesday for President Obama’s statement in his United Nations address that “Iran’s conciliatory words will have to be matched by action that is transparent and verifiable.” Mr. Netanyahu said, “Israel would welcome a genuine diplomatic solution that truly dismantles Iran’s capacity to develop nuclear weapons.” But he ordered Israel’s delegation to boycott the speech by the new Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani, and accused Iran of offering only “cosmetic concessions.”

UPDATE:

Obama’s U.N. Speech Showed Indifference to Freedom and Religious Minorities in Middle East

President Obama’s speech to the United Nations today displayed the tone-deafness to freedom and to the fate of non-Muslim peoples in the Middle East that he has shown since coming to office.
When he discussed Iran, a vicious dictatorship whose regime is rejected by the great majority of that nation’s population, what words of encouragement did he have for the Iranian people? None. On the contrary he said, “We are not seeking regime change,” reassuring not the people but their rulers. Adding insult to injury he then said, “Iran’s genuine commitment to go down a different path [on nuclear weapons] will be good for the region and the world, and will help the Iranian people meet their extraordinary potential — in commerce and culture; in science and education.”

U of Toronto's pedophilia-friendly acceptance of the idea of the "erotic child" is evil

For the vast majority of us who are parents, we see our primary duty as the protection of our children's well-being.

That duty manifests in different ways, among them the need to provide education, opportunities and guidance that will allow our kids to mature into successful, happy, well-adjusted, productive members of society. But at its most basic level, protection means exactly what the word implies, to keep them from imminent harm, be that assault, starvation, abuse or worse.

The way the world works, at some point, to some extent almost all of us have to delegate some of that protection to others. Out of necessity we hand our children over to care-givers and educators. With no small measure of parental trepidation, we place faith that those people we trust share our interests in protecting and nurturing our children.

The worst nightmare for a parent, and of course, for any child so victimized, is when that faith is betrayed in despicable ways. It doesn't happen most of the time. But it does happen.

Next month, The University of Toronto and its Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE)  will be holding a symposium for schoolteachers called Bodies at Play: Sexuality, childhood and classroom life in which the keynote speaker will be University of Southern California Professor James R. Kincaid.

The ideas behind that choice suggest are both a betrayal of trust and confirmation that the nightmare we fear for our children is real. Indeed, those fears are being mocked by the very people responsible for shaping our public schools.

OISE's keynote speaker Kincaid says
this is an image
"vacated so we can write our passion there."
A comment on an earlier article I'd written about the Bodies at Play symposium noted that just as the bank robber answered when asked why he robs banks, "because that's where the money is," to pedophiles, schools are where the children are.

There are people who view children as erotic, sexual objects. That is a view that society, at least mainstream North American society, finds abhorrent and vile.

But the person U of T/OISE has chosen as its keynote speaker takes a different view; that the eroticizing of children is normal. In the introduction to his book Erotic Innocence: The Culture of Child Molesting,  Kincaid wrote, "..most adults in our culture feel some measure of erotic attraction to children and the childlike; I do not know how it could be otherwise."

U of T and OISE's imprimatur of such values and concepts by promoting their advocate to educators of small children is thoroughly loathsome.

The means by which Kincaid attempts to illustrate his theories are more revealing of his own beliefs than they are about society as a whole. His claim that Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone or the young Shirley Temple "look like cartoon characters: Buster Brown or Betty Boop - images vacated so we can write our passion there" is a bizarre interpretation. In my opinion, anyone who truly believes that should be kept well away from children.

Kincaid suggests that we have created bogeymen of child molesters to the extent that "it raises such fears of touching that any form of intimacy may seem hardly worth the risk." When thinking of normal people, Kincaid is wrong, but it is easy to see how someone who believes that most adults view children as erotic objects might think so.

Children need comfort and assurance and sometimes that can be in the form of a hug or an arm around a shoulder. For a normal, sane person, there is no more of an erotic aspect to that than there is when in patting a dog or cat.

Kincaid is fundamentally wrong in his belief, that "most adults in our culture feel some measure of erotic attraction to children" and even more so in his belief that we are committing some sin by denying it.

For most of us, the acceptable "range of erotic feelings towards children" would be exactly zero. Not so for Professor Kincaid, who wrote we should  "see what might be done by positing a range of erotic feelings with and toward children. Rather than assuming that such feelings exist in only two forms - not at all or out of control - perhaps we could learn something of their differences, manner of expression and effects, allowing them a complex and dynamic relativity."

As a society, we have every interest in deploring and condemning the odious postulations that Kincaid proposes. By normalizing the eroticization of children, it is only a small measure away from normalizing the logical next step of that reprehensible idea. Will the next OISE symposium for educators feature someone who tells us we're overreacting when we condemn actual sex between adults and children?

There are depraved individuals who derive erotic stimulation from children. Evidently, it has eluded the brain trust at OISE that suggesting to educators such feelings are normal is not likely to instill many parents with confidence in them.

While Kincaid's writings may have esoteric philosophical value, the choice of having him as a keynote speaker at a symposium for teachers of young children suggests stupidity at best, and an acceptance of the most repugnant values at worst.  That either is guiding an institution which influences the approach taken to education in Canada is indicative of the appalling state of our public school system.

Golden Goose Awards Honor Strange Scientific Discoveries

...To combat wide-eyed allegations about useless government-supported research, a group in Washington, D.C., on Thursday (Sept. 19) gave out the Golden Goose Awards to seven researchers whose federally funded studies, though they may sound obscure, have led to practical breakthroughs.

...Lloyd Shapley, Alvin Roth and David Gale (who is being honored posthumously) were bestowed a Golden Goose Award for their work on theoretical mathematical algorithms — which at first, were aimed at finding a formula for compatible marriages.

The Gale-Shapley algorithm, developed in the 1960s, tackled the so-called stable marriage problem. It showed how to match equal numbers of men and women with a spouse so that no two people of the opposite sex would prefer each other over their partner. But the formula also could be used to ensure stable matches in real markets, which Roth helped to show.

Their collective research, though decades apart, has led to mathematical models used around the country to help place graduating medical students in their hospital residencies, match kidney donors with compatible patients and put students in the right schools in urban districts. Shapley and Roth were awarded Nobel Prizes in Economic Sciences in 2012, but Gale, who died in 2008, was not eligible for the prestigious award.

Another anti-Israel boycott fail - groups rally against terror supporters in deceptively-named "Canadians For Peace and Justice in the Middle East"

They call themselves Canadians for Peace and Justice in the Middle East. But they sponsor speakers who advocate for violence and terrorism and who lie about the way Palestinian children are indoctrinated to hate Jews and are incited to murder them.

So much for peace and justice. Frankly, I'm not even sure how many of them are actually Canadians.

Like so many of the pathetic anti-Israel boycotts, the latest attempt by CPJME had the reverse effect and was a catalyst for supporters of Israel to come out and buy the products the haters targeted.

People like Wayne Gretzky's uncle Al and Tahir Gora of the Progressive Muslim Institute Canada were among the many who came out to counter the few sad, reprobate failures that the anti-Israel collection was able to muster in Hamilton this weekend.

OCAP's poverty pimps want private property expropriated so that Toronto Downtown East Side skid row can rival Vancouver's

The Ontario Coalition for Poverty's John Clarke doesn't think mixed residential (combination of middle class market-rate dwellings combined with 'social housing' units) is a good idea. He says the poor become "persecuted minorities" in those areas.

He wants the City to expropriate properties slated for development that are not currently in use to turn them into public housing in Toronto's downtown east side.

Public Housing in Toronto is currently a disaster. What was intended to be a temporary solution for people while they improved their financial situation has become a shameful legacy that sees multi-generational poverty encouraged by bad public policy.

Public Housing neighborhoods like Jane/Finch, St. Jamestown, Regent Park, and Alexandra Park among others in Toronto are plagued with shootings, drug dealing and a culture where failure is accepted as the norm.

OCAP wants to mobilize its base of professional poverty pimps, the mentally ill and bribed street people to pressure the City into acceding to their demands, which could  cost hundreds of millions plus outlandish ongoing maintenance expenses.

Wife of Canadian 9/11 victim visits Guantanamo to look ‘evil’ killer ‘straight in the eye’

Ken Basnicki was meeting colleagues on the 106th floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Centre when al-Qaeda terrorists rammed a hijacked plane into the building on Sept. 11, 2001. Twelve years later, his wife Maureen, a former Air Canada flight attendant and now an outspoken activist for the rights of Canadian terror victims, visited the U.S. Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay this week to observe court proceedings against accused 9/11 planner Khalid Sheikh Mohammad, a.k.a. KSM, and four others, including Ramzi Binalshibh, a would-be hijacker who was refused a U.S. visa and instead allegedly helped coordinate the attacks from Germany. In an interview from Guantanamo, Ms. Basnicki told the National Post’s Stewart Bell what it was like to sit in the same room as those suspected of murdering her husband for their fanatical cause.

Q. Why did you want to go?
A. I had an overwhelming desire to see things and judge for myself. I wanted to try to understand why these five men were so full of hate for innocent civilians that they were capable of killing so many people going about their daily life. I wanted to be a representative of another country other than America, because I’m constantly trying to remind both Americans and Canadians that it’s not just all about Americans. There were citizens from 92 countries that lost their lives that day.

US nearly detonated atomic bomb over North Carolina

A secret document, published in declassified form for the first time by the Guardian today, reveals that the US Air Force came dramatically close to detonating an atom bomb over North Carolina that would have been 260 times more powerful than the device that devastated Hiroshima.

The document, obtained by the investigative journalist Eric Schlosser under the Freedom of Information Act, gives the first conclusive evidence that the US was narrowly spared a disaster of monumental proportions when two Mark 39 hydrogen bombs were accidentally dropped over Goldsboro, North Carolina on 23 January 1961. The bombs fell to earth after a B-52 bomber broke up in mid-air, and one of the devices behaved precisely as a nuclear weapon was designed to behave in warfare: its parachute opened, its trigger mechanisms engaged, and only one low-voltage switch prevented untold carnage.

This isn't good: University of Toronto's pedophile-friendly symposium on "childhood" for teachers

Maybe it's just me.

I know that if I were running an Education Department that got the most attention it ever received for having one of its senior academics arrested on charges of producing child pornography just a couple of months ago, I'd think twice about holding a symposium with a keynote speaker whose work demonstrates an obsession with a supposed "erotic appeal" of children.

But this is the University of Toronto we're talking about and its major education faculty, The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), is a place where just about any preposterousmoronic, self-indulgent diatribe can qualify a person for an advanced degree.

OISE's Centre for Urban Schooling is presenting, along with York University and U of Toronto's Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies, a symposium called  "BODIES AT PLAY: Sexuality, childhood and classroom life."

Some of it is comparatively benign, if comically idiotic New Age drivel of the sort an author like John Mortimer or Martin Amis might have invented to parody the self-indulgent vapidity of posturing academics. These people, who want to wear ostensible enlightenment on their sleeves, have a hodgepodge of fatuous buzz-words that routinely surface in everything they say or do. See how many you can spot in the biographical description of one of the presenters:
Louise Azzarello, B.A., B.Ed., M.A. is a media educator working from an interdisciplinary and equity framework. Her M.A. thesis, Spectacle & Discipline: Regulating Female Bodies through Dance explored the notions of body regulation in Western Theatrical Dance from a feminist social and political perspective. She has taught in a number of tdsb schools working with marginalized/racilaized youth and designing curriculum that embeds issues of equity and social justice.
However, the tone takes a more disturbing turn when looking at the works of the keynote speaker, James R. Kincaid.

As summed up by the author Mark Spilka, Kincaid's work, Child Loving: The Erotic Child and Victorian Culture, is a mission to "persuade us that erotic child-loving is after all okay, as long as it involves other people's children and is never consummated."

It could be the reactionary prude in me, but that's really not the attitude I would like to see fostered in people entrusted with the care of innocent young children. Were I to attend the symposium, no doubt I'd learn my concerns are silly overreactions since, according to Professor Kincaid, that whole "childhood innocence" thing is just an artificial construct developed by Victorians.

Indeed, in another of his books, Erotic Innocence: The Culture of Child Molesting, Kincaid notes ''the subject of the child's sexuality and erotic appeal, along with our evasion of what we have done by bestowing those gifts, now structures our culture.''

Maybe that's true if your culture is centered at places like OISE, but not necessarily for the rest of us.

If all this is upsetting to you, undoubtedly Professor Kincaid could explain that this is all a way of stimulating your own sexual tantalization.
The fear that sex might corrupt them is sexually exciting for us. ''We denounce it all loudly but never have done with it,'' he writes. ''Indignation comes to seem almost like pleasure.''
OISE is a faculty whose graduates were instrumental in formulating the extremely controversial curriculum that was widely condemned for exposing highly sexualized content to young children. An attempt to introduce that curriculum by OISE professor and accused child pornographer Ben Levin, when he was Ontario's Deputy Education Minister, was withdrawn by then-Premier Dalton McGuinty following the outcry from outraged parents across the province.

That setback clearly hasn't dissuaded OISE from pursuing its deplorable agenda. They could be counting on the public having a short attention span. They may have calculated that when it comes to the way children are educated, the public really isn't paying that much attention at all.

Sadly, as we can see from their ongoing travesties that continue with impunity, on that final point, they could be right.

UPDATE: The following brief excerpt is from Professor Kincaid's book, Erotic Innocence:

We might try to manage without stark essentialist ideas of sexuality and sexual behavior, see what might be done by positing a range of erotic feelings with and toward children. Rather than assuming that such feelings exist in only two forms - not at all or out of control - perhaps we could learn something of their differences, manner of expression and effects, allowing them a complex and dynamic relativity.

It's important to be plain about this and not try to counter erotic attraction to children with nothing stronger than nostalgia and talk about how sweet children are. For one thing, nostalgia and sweetness are not antidotes to eroticism but ingredients of it; for another, they are trifles. I believe most adults in our culture feel some measure of erotic attraction to children and the childlike; I do not know how it could be otherwise.

Ontario Elementary School Teachers' Union endorses OISE's pro-Communist, pro-class warfare calendar

The blog Socialist Studies reports that the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario  is pushing the `Social Justice` Calendar produced by the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE).

The so-called Social Justice they are pushing includes celebrating the totalitarian mass-murderers Che Guevara and violent, mentally-unbalanced thugs operating within deranged activist groups that promote the concept of class warfare, like the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty (OCAP) and No One is Illegal.

Clearly I`m in the wrong business: Grand Theft Auto V makes $800 Million on its first day of sales

(Reuters) - Take-Two Interactive Software Inc racked up $800 million in first-day retail sales of Grand Theft Auto V, the fifth installment of the lucrative franchise that went on sale around the world on Tuesday.

The sales figure marked a first-day record for the Grand Theft Auto series in which players freely roam, mainly via automobiles, in a make-believe gameworld based on real-life locations such as Los Angeles.

Sales of $800 million would translate to 13 million to 14 million units of the game sold, according to analysts.

Robert Spencer speaks in Toronto

By quoting Islamic law and facts and the pervasive hate-mongering and intolerance embedded in Islamic teaching, Robert Spencer is, with perverse irony, himself accused of being a hate-monger.  In our declining society, telling the truth and pointing out the hatred and viciousness of an evil ideology is now a form of "hate speech".

Janice Fiamengo: It’s Time to Stop Whitewashing Tarek Loubani and John Greyson

Their associates in both the academic and film communities have called for the men’s immediate release, with author and script writer Michael Ondaatje, for example, speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival last week about artists having “a special responsibility to protest when human rights are violated.” Canadian filmmaker Sarah Polley told how Greyson had “inspired and mentored” so many young filmmakers. A petition demanding their freedom has been signed by over 100,000 people.

What has been missing from all of the coverage, however, is an accurate account of the political motivations of the men, including their support for the destruction of Israel and possible links to the terrorist entity Hamas.

Vomit-inducing tripe from rabble.ca about the Washington Naval Yard shootings

Days like this remind me of the value of the guiding philosophy behind Eye on a Crazy Planet:
"I have always been among those who believed that the greatest freedom of speech was the greatest safety, because if a man is a fool, the best thing to do is to encourage him to advertise the fact by speaking."  - President Woodrow Wilson
